[Leaving voicemails? Not so much Okita's thing. But after the last day or so, some things just become necessary. So a few seconds after it starts recording, he finally speaks.]

[ wow, she didn't quite expect to get a message from Okita, of all people. That alone would have been some kind of warning, but it's his voice that cements it. Whatever this is about, this is serious.

[He's pretty short with his words. Sooner rather than later is good, as far as he's concerned. He's not feeling too chatty today, really.]

[ her bafflement is only growing by leaps and bounds here, assisted by some worry. Well, if he's going to be short, then she's just going to have to get some details down before she leaves. ]

[ this sounds serious, and if he hadn't just left further detail in his voicemail, chances are this may be an in-person conversation. She can't imagine him being too terribly chatty over the network, anyway. ]

[He's definitely not the most chatty over the network. And when he is, it's usually pretty idle conversation -- things to pass the time. Definitely a far cry from this. Okita pauses. It needs to be somewhere secluded. Nowhere filled with people, the Shinsengumi's apartment concluded.]

Will there be anyone in your... [Hold up, what's that word again? Oh, right.] apartment?

[There are probably times and contexts where that could be easily misconstrued, especially in this place. But his tone has no indication of that playful nature. These are the rarest moments, the ones where Okita is deadly serious.]

[ as wary as Rise has always been about every suspicious-sounding or overly-friendly line being a come-on or an indication of unsavory interest, she'd like to think she knows Okita well enough to also know that his words now aren't indicative of any of that. Then it's easy enough to reply, rather than to accuse him of being perverted. ]

No, it's just me. That should be fine, then?

Right, that should do it just fine. [He pauses, and it's definitely a serious, heavy pause. He knows he's probably not instilling any reassurance in her -- and that's kind of the intent right now.] I'll see you then, Rise-chan.
